ZW’s mandate was to provide design, budget, and schedule management for the firm’s first commercial plant.

ZW was selected by Plasco Energy Group to provide project management services for the design and construction of its first commercial municipal solid waste conversion plant to be located in Red Deer Alberta. The world-leading Plasco technology; under development in Ottawa since 1986, and at the Trail Road commercial sized demonstration project since 2006, converts waste to synthetic gas and other valuable products. The syngas is used to fuel engine-generators to produce 100 MWhr per 100 tonne/day module.

The Red Deer three module plant began construction in the summer of 2011 and be fully commissioned by the end of 2012. This $150M project will be followed by similar installations across North America, Europe, and China.
