ZW was the Construction Manager for both phases of this project and provided pre-design services, including: design review, estimating, and procurement for the Centertown Citizens Ottawa Corporation (CCOC) Beaver Barracks development project. This affordable housing development is located on the corner of Argyle Street and Metcalfe Street in Centretown Ottawa.
Providing affordable housing in downtown Ottawa, this project is comprised of an 8-storey building with 107 apartments and a 4-storey, wood frame building with 52 apartments and townhouses. The facility includes various amenity areas, commercial space and an on-site post for the Ottawa Paramedic Services on the ground floor.
The Argyle and Metcalfe buildings share a large roof terrace in the centre of the buildings. A footpath through the middle of the buildings leads to the organic community garden in the centre of the site.
Highlights for this development include a geothermal heating and cooling system, EMS out-post station, commercial retail space, a community garden, a green roof and 19 fully wheelchair accessible units.
