The Stillwater Creek Retirement Community consists of three separate buildings designed to meet the growing needs of the senior population of Ottawa.
It provides 236 units responding to different care level requirements. Building A ranges from 2 to 7 stories and is an Extended Care Unit with 196 suites, complete with nursing facilities. Building C is a 3-storey senior’s apartment building with underground parking. It provides 40 one and two bedroom suites. Building B is a 2-storey structure linking the Extended Care Unit with the apartment building, and houses the kitchen, dining, and recreational facilities. The facility is surrounded by large, landscaped grounds.
ZW was hired as Construction Managers for this project. An informal Partnering arrangement between ZW Group, the Consultants, the Client, and Subcontractors allowed for all project goals to be reached. Under the direction of ZW, this retirement residence was able to be fast tracked, and completed one month ahead of schedule; and with the design coordination and value engineering during schematic and design development, the project was also completed within the approved budget.
ZW implemented and introduced the use of a secure web-based communication and document control system in which all team members contributed to in order to coordinate construction documents between consultants, as well as creating reliable distribution of all information.
Interior Renovations:
In 2016 ZW was hired to manage the interior renovations. This scope of work includes all public spaces such as dining areas, lounge areas, and the main hallways. New carpeting, wall covering/paint, furniture, light fixtures window coverings, and re-facing of the fireplaces will be part of the transformation.
