The new facility replaces the city’s existing Mosaic Stadium, which was built in 1910, and is home to the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders. The pre-existing stadium, which is one of the oldest buildings in the Canadian Football League, will be demolished, releasing land for “urban regeneration”. The new stadium features an innovative spectator roof which will protect fans from the weather, while also remaining an open-air facility. The architect for Mott MacDonald is P3A with advisers Pattern Design.
