CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

ZW was appointed Construction Manager for the front phase of the Kanata Research Park. The following buildings were all constructed on time and on budget.

The Kanata Research Park is the largest commercial business park in the Ottawa region. This over 500,000 sq. ft. development brings together the leading edge of computerized technology under several roofs, all contained within a parkland environment.

ZW was responsible for the construction of the following buildings:

Blackwood Business Centre, Towers A and B

These towers are located in Kanata’s north business district. Both towers are ten-storey’s, and are connected by a two-storey retail link. This four-tower development programme adds over 245,000 sq. ft. of Class “A” office space to the area.

Swansea Building

Originally built in 1994, this operations building provides over 250,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing and office space built to suit the sole tenant. ZW provided the construction management services for both the original building, and the subsequent additions, while the facility was still in operation. High-bay manufacturing space was doubled to 160,000 sq. ft. to house the company’s circuit card assembly systems and functional assembly facilities. Three level office space provides 90,000 sq. ft. for software development laboratories, office space for administrative support, and ancillary facilities for staff.

Monmouth Building

This building marks the beginning of the Kanata Research Park developments. ZW completed the construction of both the original building, built in 1988, and the subsequent 38,000 sq. ft. additions. This two level office building and manufacturing plant now provides 75,000 sq. ft. of single-storey warehouse and manufacturing space, complemented by 20,000 sq. ft. of office space.

Crosskeys Phases I – III

This mini campus provides over 155,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing, research, development, and Class “A” office space to multiple tenants in the Hi-Tech industry.
